Nine kilometres from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, this shrine, popularly the Budhanilkantha temple, enshrines Mahavishnu reclining upon Adisesha within a small central pond. In a rare and unusual sayana posture, the Lord lies face-upward with His right foot placed over the left, a sight of profound serenity, likened to a man asleep in perfect, untroubled peace. The image is said to have floated upon the water since the 13th century. Remarkably, the entire 14-foot composition, including Adisesha, is carved from a single stone, one of the temple's greatest wonders. The sthala history relates that the 7th-century king Vishnu Gupta, who ruled this region, consecrated and worshipped the idol. Though the image floats upon water, its daily abhisheka and aradhana continue unfailingly. Venerated as the Lord to worship for lasting peace of mind, this Vishnu is honoured each year on the eleventh day of the Karthigai month (October-November) with the grand 'Haribodhini' Ekadasi Mela, in which thousands of devotees participate.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; 🤔ஒரு மனிதன் எந்த கவலைகளுமின்றி வெகு நிம்மதியாக ஆழ்ந்து உறங்குவது போல.. நேபாள நாட்டின் தலைநகர் காட்மாண்டுவில் இருந்து 9-கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவில் அமையப்பெற்ற இத்திருத்தலத்தின் மையப்பகுதியுள்ள சிறு குளத்தில், நம் மஹாவிஷ்ணு, ஆதிசேஷன் மீது (வலது திருவடியை, இடது திருவடியின் மேல் வைத்து, மல்லாந்து படுத்திருக்கும்) காண்பதற்கரிய வித்தியாசமான சயன திருக்கோலத்தில் அருட்காட்சியளிப்பதை காணப்பரவசம். 13-ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு காலம் முதல் நீரிலேயே மிதந்து கொண்டிருப்பதாக கூறப்படும் இந்த மஹாவிஷ்ணு விக்ரகம், (ஆதிசேஷன் உட்பட, 14-அடி உயரம்கொண்ட அற்புத சிற்ப வடிவங்கள் அனைத்தும்) ஒரே கல்லினால் வடிக்கப்பட்டவை என்பது இத்திருத்தலத்தின் வியப்புமிக்க சிறப்பாகும். 7-ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில், இப்பகுதியை ஆட்சி செய்த விஷ்ணு குப்தா என்ற மன்னர், இந்த சிலையை பிரதிஷ்டை செய்து வழிபட்டதாக தலவரலாறு கூறுகிறது. இந்த சிலை நீரிலேயே மிதந்தபடி இருந்தாலும், இதற்கான அபிஷேக ஆராதனைகள் தினமும் நடந்தவண்ணமே உள்ளனவாம். மனதில் என்றும் அமைதிபெற வழிபடவேண்டிய இறைவனாக போற்றப்படும் இத்திருத்தல விஷ்ணு பகவானுக்கு, ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் நமது கார்த்திகை மாதம் (அக்டோபர் -நவம்பர்) 11-ஆம் நாளில் நடைபெறும் 'ஹரிபோந்தினி' ஏகாதசி மேளா, ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பக்தர்கள் கலந்துகொள்ளும் பெரும் திருவிழாக்காலமாகும்). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
