Sthala Mahātmyam
Built in the 12th century by Sri Jaya Devaraya, a chieftain (pallegara) of the Hoysala empire, this ancient Vaishnava temple enshrines Thirumal in its sanctum as Sri Saumya Kesava Perumal, standing six feet tall. In two shrines near the sanctum, Narasimha graces with Sri Lakshmi seated upon his lap, and Sri Venugopala graces with Bhama and Rukmini, another distinction of this kshetram. The temple's sculptural work is wonderfully exquisite throughout, standing as a testament to Hoysala architecture; it was also renovated by the Vijayanagara kings and is now under the care of the Central Archaeological department (ASI). Affectionately hailed as 'Soumakesava' by devotees, this celebrated shrine lies about 140 km from Bangalore and 60 km from Mysore. All festivals dear to the Perumal are grandly observed, and because the Lord is revered as an amsam (aspect) of Chandra, the moon, the Monday worship offered here is a special thala visesham.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; 12-ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில், ஹொய்சாள பேரரசின் பல்லேகரா ஸ்ரீ ஜெய தேவராயரால் கட்டப்பட்ட இந்த பழமைமிகு வைணவ திருத்தலத்தின் கருவறையில் நம் திருமால், ஸ்ரீ செளமிய கேசவப்பெருமாள் எனும் திருநாமத்துடன் ஆறடி உயரம் கொண்டவராய் அருட்காட்சியளிக்கிறார். மூலஸ்தானத்தின் அருகே உள்ள இரு சன்னதிகளில், (மடியில் அமர்ந்திருக்கும்) ஸ்ரீ லக்ஷ்மியுடன் நரசிம்மரும், ஸ்ரீ பாமா ருக்மணியுடன் ஸ்ரீ வேணுகோபாலரும் அருள்பாலிப்பது மற்றுமொரு தலச்சிறப்பாகும். இத்திருத்தலத்தின் சிற்ப வடிப்புகள் அத்தனையும் அருமை அற்புதம். ஹொய்சாள ஆட்சியாளர்களின் கட்டிடக்கலைக்கு சான்றாக அமையப்பெற்ற பல சிறப்பு மிக்க ஆலயங்களில் ஒன்றான இத்திருத்தலம், (விஜயநகர அரசர்களாலும் திருப்பணிகள் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளன) தற்போது மத்திய தொல்லியல் துறையின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ளது. ("சௌமகேசவா" என, பக்தர்களால் போற்றப்படும் பெருமாளின் சிறப்புமிக்க இத்திருத்தலம், பெங்களூரிலிருந்து 140-k.m. தொலைவிலும், மைசூரிலிருந்து 60-k.m.தொலைவிலும் அமைந்துள்ளது) பெருமாளுக்கு உகந்த அத்தனை விழாக்களும் சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்படும் இத்தலத்தின் இறைவன் சந்திரனின் அம்சமாக போற்றப்படுவதால், இங்கு நடைபெறும் திங்கள் வழிபாடு தலவிசேஷம்). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
