Sthala Mahātmyam
At the kshetra of Sengkanur, Lord Thiruvengadavan (Srinivasa) graces devotees standing exactly as at Tirumala-Tirupati, a sight that fills the heart with joy. A distinctive glory of this temple, according to tradition, is that the Lord of Tirupati himself came here in person and granted his sacred service (sevai). The presiding vigraha is said to have self-manifested, emerging from the earth around a thousand years ago. At the feet of Srinivasa Perumal lies a Salagrama stone. Sthala tradition recounts that Sri Periyavachan Pillai, foremost among the Vaishnava prose commentators and revered as the "Vyakhyana Chakravarti," who lived some 800 years ago, at the close of his earthly life merged into that very Salagrama stone, thus uniting with the feet of the Lord who had blessed him with darshan. Once known only to local people and little visited by outside devotees, this ancient shrine has recently been beautifully renovated. All festivals dear to the Lord are celebrated grandly, and the Saturday worship in the month of Purattasi is regarded as especially auspicious.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்திருத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; (திருப்பதி) திருமலையில் நின்றிருக்கும் திருக்கோலத்தினைப்போலவே, இந்த சேங்கனூர் ஷேத்திரத்திலும் நம் திருவேங்கடவன் அருள்பாலிப்பதை காணப்பரவசம். (ஒரு வரலாற்று நிகழ்விபடி; திருப்பதி பெருமாளே நேரில் வந்து சேவை சாதித்த தலமென்பது இத்திருக்கோயிலின் தனிச்சிறப்பாகும்) சுமார் 1000-ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு, பூமியிலிருந்து விக்ரகமாக வெளிபட்ட இத்திருத்தல ஸ்ரீசீனிவாசப்பெருமாளின் பாதத்தில், (5,6,7-புகைப்பட பதிவுகளில் காணும்) சாளக்கிராம கல் ஒன்றுள்ளது. சுமார் 800-ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் முன் அவதரித்த, வைணவ உரைநடை ஆசிரியர்களில் முதன்மையானவரும், 'வியாக்கியான சக்ரவர்த்தி' என போற்றப்படுபவருமான ஸ்ரீபெரியவச்சான் பிள்ளை தனது வாழ்நாள் முடிந்ததும், அந்த சாளக்கிராம கல்லில் ஐக்கியமாகி, தனக்கு காட்சிதந்த பெருமாள் திருவடியிலேயே சேர்ந்துவிட்டதாக தலவரலாறு கூறுகிறது. (உள்ளூர் மக்களை தவிர, வெளியூர் பக்தர்களால் அதிகம் அறியப்படாத பல பழமையான வைணவ திருத்தலத்தலங்களில், தற்போது சிறப்பாக திருப்பணிகள் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ள இந்திருக்கோயிலும் ஒன்று) பெருமாளுக்கு உகந்த அனைத்து விழாக்களும் சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்படும் இத்திருத்தலத்தில் நடைபெறும் புரட்டாசி மாத சனிக்கிழமை வழிபாடு வெகு விசேஷமாம்). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻*பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
