Sri Srinivasa Perumal (Chinnakoyil) Temple, Sethukkarai

Sthala Mahātmyam
This roughly 220-year-old Vaishnava temple at Sethukkarai, affectionately called "Chinnakoyil" by the people of Ramanathapuram, stands near the Agastya Theertham. Though now dilapidated and awaiting renovation, it enshrines Lord Venkatavan (Srinivasa), who graces devotees in a standing posture bearing the conch and discus (Sangu-Chakradhari). According to the temple's stone inscription, the shrine was consecrated by Seshamma, daughter of the Ramanathapuram zamindarani Sethupathi Rani Mangaleswari Nachiyar and Muthu Ragunatha Sethupathi, on the fourth day of the Tamil month of Karthigai in the year 1805, at the Sangumugam Agastya Theertham. To ensure daily abhisheka and aradhana for the Lord, she granted the village of Nediyamanikkam near Kamankottai as an endowment and issued a copper-plate deed (seppedu) recording the gift. Once maintained with great grandeur and glory, this sacred temple now awaits fresh kainkaryam and restoration, standing as a quiet but historically significant Sri Vaishnava kshetra on the sacred shores of Sethu.

(ராமநாதபுரம் மக்களால் 'சின்னக்கோயில்' என்றழைக்கப்படும் இத்திருக்கோயில், சேதுக்கரை அகத்தியர் தீர்த்தம் அருகே உள்ளது) ராமநாதபுரம் ஜமீன்தாரனி சேதுபதி ராணி மங்களேஸ்வரி நாச்சியார் மற்றும் முத்து ரகுநாத சேதுபதி ஆகியோரின் மகளாகிய சேஷம்மாவால், 1805-ஆம் ஆண்டின் கார்த்திகை மாதம், 4-ஆம் நாள், சங்குமுகம் அகத்திய தீர்த்தத்தில் இந்த சீனிவாச பெருமாள் திருக்கோயிலை பிரதிஷ்டை செய்திட வைத்து, இறைவனுக்கு தினசரி அபிஷேக ஆராதனைகளுக்கு, காமன்கோட்டை அருகிலுள்ள நெடியமாணிக்கம் என்ற ஊரை கொடையாக விட்டுக்கொடுத்து செப்பேடு வழங்கியதாக இத்தருத்தலத்தின் கல்வெட்டு கூறுகிறது. இப்படி, முற்காலத்தில் சீரும் சிறப்புடன் இருந்த இத்திருத்தலம் 🙏🏻தற்போது *திருப்பணிகளை எதிர்நோக்கியுள்ள..* 🙏🏻 *ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக:* 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
