This ancient Vaishnava temple, recently well renovated, enshrines Lord Vishnu in the sanctum as Sri Vizhi Varadaraja Perumal, standing with Sridevi and Bhudevi. Sengamala Thayar graces a separate sannidhi in a beautiful form. In olden times the Lord resided in a forest thick with vizhuthi trees and was therefore called Vizhuthi Varadaraja Perumal, a name that over time was shortened to the present 'Vizhi'. Having granted the blessing of progeny to a king named Kasturirajan, it is believed that those who worship the Lord here wholeheartedly are soon blessed with children long delayed. One of the celebrated ancient shrines of Karaikal district, the Saturday worship here for harmony and unity of thought between husband and wife is a special observance. Festivities grace the temple in every month of the year, and the Masi Magam festival is celebrated as its grand annual event.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; சமீப காலத்தில் சிறப்பாக திருப்பணிகள் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ள இந்த பழமைமிகு வைணவ திருத்தலத்தின் கருவறையில் நம் திருமால், ஸ்ரீ தேவி, பூதேவி சமேதராக ஸ்ரீ வீழி வரதராஜப்பெருமாள் எனும் திருநாமத்துடன் நின்ற திருக்கோலத்தில் அருட்காட்சியளிக்கிறார். தனி சன்னதியில், நம் செங்கமலத்தாயார் அழகுத்திருக்காட்சியளிக்கிறாள். முற்காலத்தில், இறைவன் விழுதி மரம் நிறைந்த காட்டினில் அருட்குடிகொண்டிருந்ததால் விழுதி வரதராஜப்பெருமாள் எனும் பெயரே காலப்போக்கில் மருவி, தற்போதைய வீழி என்றானதாம். கஸ்தூரிராஜன் என்ற மன்னருக்கு மகப்பேறு அருளிய இத்தல இறைவனிடம் உளமார வழிபட தள்ளிப்போகும் குழந்தைப்பேறு விரைவில் நலமாக கிடைத்திடும் என்பது நம்பிக்கை. காரைக்கால் மாவட்டத்தில் பிரசித்தி பெற்ற பழமைமிகு ஆலயங்களில் ஒன்றான இத்தலத்தில், தம்பதியர் கருத்தொற்றுமை மேன்மையுற நடைபெறும் சனிக்கிழமை வழிபாடு தலவிசேஷம். வருடத்தின் அனைத்து மாதங்களிலும் விழாக்கோலம் காணும் இத்தலத்தில் நடைபெறும் மாசிமகவிழா பெரும் திருவிழாவாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
