Sthala Mahātmyam
Around a hundred and fifty years old, this Vaishnava temple delights devotees with the darshan of Lord Thirumal gracing them together with his consorts, Sri Ranganayaki and Kodhai Nachiyar. The special observance of this sthalam is the abhishekam and alankara worship performed on Saturdays, prayed to for the blessing of a good life-partner and for the deepening of harmony between husband and wife. The divine couple of this temple is devoutly worshipped by the people of Devakottai and the villages around it. The ten-day car festival (theerottam), held in the month of Chithirai, is widely celebrated and greatly renowned throughout the Sivaganga district, drawing large gatherings of devotees. Enshrined as Sri Ranganatha Perumal, the Lord here is sought by those praying for a suitable marriage alliance, marital concord and the wellbeing of their families, all obtained through his gracious blessing. Though modest in age compared with the region's more ancient shrines, the temple holds a cherished place in the devotional life of the surrounding community.
