మయిలాడుదురైలోని తిరు ఇందలూరు పరిమళ రంగనాథ పెరుమాళ్ ఆలయం కావేరి తీరం వెంట ఉంది; ఇది పంచరంగ క్షేత్రాలలో ఒకటిగా, నాలాయిర దివ్య ప్రబంధంలో కీర్తించబడిన ఒక దివ్యదేశంగా విరాజిల్లుతోంది. ఇందలూరు అనే పేరు చంద్రుని సూచించే 'ఇందు' అనే పదం నుండి ఉద్భవించింది; ఎందుకంటే ఇక్కడే చంద్ర భగవానుడు విష్ణువును ఆరాధించి, తన కాంతిని హరించిన శాపం నుండి విముక్తుడయ్యాడు; స్వామి ప్రత్యక్షమై తన భక్తుని అనుగ్రహించాడు. స్వామి నామమైన పరిమళ రంగనాథుడు (పరిమళం అంటే సుగంధం) అనేది, ఇతర చోట్ల స్వామి వ్యోమజ్యోతిగా ఉండగా, ఇక్కడ ఆయన సుగంధంతో నిండి ఉంటాడనే సంప్రదాయం ద్వారా వివరించబడుతుంది; శ్రీవైష్ణవ గాథ ఈ సుగంధాన్ని, స్వామి తన మత్స్యావతారంలో మధు, కైటభ అనే రాక్షసుల నుండి తిరిగి పొందిన వేదాలకు అందించిన మాధుర్యంతో కూడా ముడిపెడుతుంది. తిరుమంగై ఆళ్వారుకు సంబంధించిన ఒక ప్రసిద్ధ ఘట్టం ఉంది; ఆయన తన పాశురాలను సమర్పించడానికి వచ్చినప్పుడు ఆలయ ద్వారాలు మూసివేయబడి ఉన్నాయి; నిరంతరం పాడినా ద్వారాలు తెరుచుకోనప్పుడు, స్వామి ఈ ఆలయాన్ని తన కోసమే ఉంచుకోవచ్చని ఆయన పాడారు; వెంటనే ద్వారాలు తెరుచుకున్నాయి, ఆయన తన మంగళాశాసనాన్ని పూర్తి చేశారు. అంతేకాక, శివునిపై గంగ ఉన్నట్లుగా, స్వామి కావేరిని తన శిరస్సుపై ప్రవహించేలా పైకి లేపి, ఆ నదికి ఇచ్చిన మాటను నెరవేర్చాడని కూడా సంప్రదాయం చెబుతుంది. మూలవరు కిడంద (వీర శయన) భంగిమలో తూర్పు ముఖంగా ఒక పెద్ద విగ్రహంగా శయనించి ఉన్నారు. తీర్థం ఇందు (చంద్ర) పుష్కరిణి, విమానం వేద చక్ర విమానం, ఐదు అంతస్తుల రాజగోపురం మధ్యయుగ చోళులు, విజయనగర పాలకులు, మదురై నాయకుల కృషిని ప్రతిబింబిస్తుంది.
Mangalāśāsanam — the Āḻvār pāsurams
The Lord Parimala Ranganatha (Sugandha Vana Natha) with Parimala Ranganayaki of Thiru Indhaloor is glorified by:
తిరుఇందలూర్ (మయిలాడుదురై), శ్రీరంగంలోని రంగనాథుని వలె శయనించి ఉన్న పరిమళ రంగనాథ Perumāḷ (సుగంధ వన నాథర్) వేంచేసి ఉన్న దివ్య దేశం, Thirumangai Āḻvār ఒక్కరి నుండే తన mangalāśāsanam పొందింది. ఆయన తన పెరియ తిరుమొழி లో పరిమళ రంగనాథరును స్తుతిస్తూ ఒక పదిక (పది pāsuram) గానం చేశారు. Āḻvār వచ్చినప్పుడు ఆయన నిరంతరం గానం చేసినా గర్భగుడి తలుపులు మూసుకుపోయే ఉన్నాయని; విచారంతో ఆయన చివరికి Perumāḷ ను ఆలయాన్ని తానే ఉంచుకొమ్మని చెప్పగానే తలుపులు తెరుచుకున్నాయని ఐతిహ్యం. ఇందలూర్ అనే పేరు 'ఇందు' (చంద్రుడు) తో ముడిపడి ఉంది — Chandra శాపం నుండి విముక్తి పొందిన స్థలం ఇదే (ఇది ఒక చంద్ర శాప విమోచన స్థలం).
தீ எம்பெருமான் நீர் எம்பெருமான் திசையும் இருநிலனும் ஆய், எம்பெருமான் ஆகி நின்றால் அடியோம் காணோமால், தாய் எம்பெருமான் தந்தை தந்தை ஆவீர், அடியோமுக் கே எம்பெருமான் அல்லீரோ? நீர் இந்தளூரீரே.

O Lord of Thiru Indhaloor! You are our Lord who indwells as fire, You are our Lord who indwells as water, You are our Lord who pervades all the directions and the wide earth. Yet, standing thus as the indwelling soul of everything, we Your servants cannot perceive You directly. You who are our mother, and the father of our father (our every relation) — are You not, then, our very own Lord, the master of us Your servants here? It is You who have come and graciously taken Your stand in Thiru Indhaloor for our sake.
