O Lord (Krishna) with a divine dark form vast and beautiful like the ocean! O elder-brother-like Lord (Aṇṇā) dwelling in Thiruvellakkulam, ringed by strong ramparts, in Thirunangūr where the foremost brāhmaṇas who win battles over their foes reside forever — graciously remove the sorrows of me, your servant.

O Lord of Thiruvellakkulam, encircled by lush, sprout-filled groves, in Thirunangūr where brāhmaṇas of land-wide fame reside forever — as I come singing your praise, destroy the karmic sins that have become mine.

You should mercifully remove the sorrows of me, your servant (for I have no other refuge).

O Lord whose divine chest is embraced by Periya Pirattiyar (Sri Mahalakshmi), who abides on the lotus flower! O God of Thirunangur, where dwell Vedic brahmanas whose glory fills the tongues of all the world! O you who reside in Thiruvellakkulam! Crying 'Alas, alas!', be gracious, recognising 'this one is my servant', and shower your mercy upon me.

This garland of ten verses was mercifully composed by Kaliyan (Thirumangai Alvar), whose shoulders are mightier than mountains, upon the Lord (Sriman) who eternally resides in the dhivyadesam Thiruvellakkulam, in Thirunangur where brahmanas full of good devotion (parama bhakti) dwell firmly.
