Recently renovated with fine kainkaryam, this small Vaishnava shrine enshrines Lord Thirumal as Sri Kanichi Perumal, standing gracefully in the sanctum with his consorts on either side. Revered as the family deity (kuladeivam) of the people of the surrounding villages, the Lord of this sthalam is said to have manifested here on his own (swayambhu) many centuries ago, emerging from the earth in the form of a small linga. A distinctive observance of this temple is the abhishekam worship offered to the swayambhu Swami, positioned before the processional idols of the Perumal and his consort, prayed to so that long-delayed auspicious events in the household may soon come to pass happily. For wellbeing and flourishing prosperity, the evening worship conducted on every Saturday of the Purattasi month is renowned at this sthalam. Little known to devotees from outside yet cherished locally, the temple draws those seeking the removal of obstacles and the fulfilment of family aspirations through the grace of Sri Kanichi Perumal.
