Sthala Mahātmyam
This ancient and historically celebrated Vaishnava kshetram, the very 'Vinnagara Koyil' immortalised in Kalki's novel Ponniyin Selvan, enshrines in its sanctum the conch- and discus-bearing Lord Thirumal, standing as Sri Veera Narayana Perumal with His two consorts on either side. Maragathavalli Thayar graces a separate shrine, seated in beauty. Foremost among its glories is the legend that Sri Mahalakshmi was born here as a child and grew into a maiden, whom the Lord came as a king to wed; and that it was here the Lord showed Sri Nathamuni the way to recover and set down the Nalayira Divya Prabandham. It is celebrated as the place where the Prabandham was first sung to music, and as the avatara sthalam of the great acharyas Sri Nathamuni and Sri Alavandhar (Yamunacharya). Greatly renowned in the Chola era, the temple's inscription declares that devout worship of the divine couple here yields the merit of visiting all 108 Divya Desams together. The Saturday worship, offered for wellbeing and prosperity, is the temple's special observance (thala visesham).

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்திருத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; வரலாற்று சிறப்புமிக்க ('தெய்வத்திரு' கல்கியின்) பொன்னியின் செல்வன் நாவலில் 'விண்ணகரக்கோயில்' என வர்ணிக்கப்படும் இத்தொன்மையான வைணவ திருத்தலத்தின் கருவறையில் சங்கு சக்கரதாரியான நம் திருமால், தேவியர் இருவரும் இருபுறமும் உடனிருக்க, ஸ்ரீ வீர நாராயணப்பெருமாள் எனும் திருநாமத்துடன் நின்ற திருக்கோலத்தில் அருட்காட்சியளிக்கிறார். தனி சன்னதியில், நம் மரகதவல்லி தாயார் அமர்ந்த நிலையில் அழகுத்திருக்காட்சியளிக்கிறாள். (ஒரு புராண வரலாற்று நிகழ்விபடி; இத்தலத்தில் குழந்தையாக பிறந்து, குமரியாக வளர்ந்த ஸ்ரீமஹாலக்ஷ்மி தேவியை கரம் பிடிக்க ஒரு ராஜாவாக வந்த இறைவன், ஸ்ரீமத் நாதமுனிக்கு நாலாயிர திவ்வியப் பிரபந்தம் மீட்டெடுத்து இயற்றிட திசைகாட்டிய தலம் என்பது தலச்சிறப்புக்களில் முதன்மையானதாகும்) நாலாயிர திவ்வியப் பிரபந்தம் இசையோடு பாடப்பெற்ற தலம் என்பதும், ஸ்ரீமத் நாதமுனிகள் மற்றும் ஸ்ரீஆளவந்தான் ஆகிய ஆன்மீக பெரியோர்களின் அவதார திருத்தலம் என்பதும் தலச்சிறப்புக்களில் சிலவாகும். சோழர்கள் காலத்தில் பெரும் சிறப்புற்று விளங்கிய இத்திருத்தலத்தின் இறை தம்பதியரை உளமார வழிபட, 108-திவ்ய தேசங்களை ஒன்றாக தரிசித்த பலன்கள் கிடைக்கும் என்று இத்திருத்தலத்தின் கல்வெட்டு கூறுகிறது. நலம சிறக்கவும், வளம் செழிக்கவும் நடைபெறும் சனிக்கிழமை வழிபாடு தல விசேஷம்). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இத்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!* .
