Sthala Mahātmyam
Built by the Pandyas and about 700 years old, this temple enshrines the Lord Venkatavan under the name Sri Chenna Kesava Perumal, gracing devotees in standing posture as a somewhat large form, much like the Lord of the seven hills at Tirumala. In a separate shrine, the Nachiyar grants beautiful darshan in seated posture. This Vaishnava sthalam is one of the ancient temples of Virudhunagar district that remains little known beyond local devotees. Inscriptions recording renovations across various periods are found here, and it is a speciality of the sthalam that all the important festivals observed at Tirumala are celebrated here following the very same practices. For health of body and mind, the Saturday morning worship offered to Sri Anuman is special. And for wellbeing of body and prosperity of wealth, the worship performed for the utsavar every Saturday evening is another glory of the sthalam.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; பாண்டியர்களால் கட்டப்பட்ட, சுமார் 700-ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான இத்திருக்கோவிலில் நம் வேங்கடவன், ஸ்ரீ சென்ன கேசவப்பெருமாள் எனும் திருநாமத்துடன், சற்றே பெரியவராய் (திருமலை ஏழுமலையானைப்போலவே) நின்ற திருக்கோலத்தில் அருட்காட்சியளிக்கிறார். தனி சன்னதியில், நம் நாச்சியார் அமர்ந்த நிலையில் அழகுத்திருக்காட்சியளிக்கிறாள். விருதுநகர் மாவட்டத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள பழமையான கோயில்களில், உள்ளூர் மக்களைத் தவிர வெளியூர் பக்தர்களால் அதிகம் அறியப்படாத இந்த வைணவ திருத்தலமும் ஒன்று. பல்வேறு காலகட்டங்களில் திருப்பணிகள் செய்ததற்கான கல்வெட்டுகள் காணப்படும் இத்தலத்தில், திருமலையில் நடைபெறும் அத்தனை முக்கியமான விழாக்களும், அதன் நடைமுறையிலேயே இங்கும் நடைபெறுவது தல விசேஷம்.
