Sthala Mahātmyam
Honoured by the mangalasasanam of Thirumangai Azhwar, this temple is the 59th of the 108 Divya Desams to receive such sacred hymns. Beneath the Uthpala Vimana, in the sanctum, Lord Vengadavan gives darshan as a somewhat large form, standing and facing east with Thirumagal and Bhumagal. In a separate shrine, the Nachiyar graces devotees under the distinctive name 'Ennai Petra Thayar' (the mother who bore me). Tradition relates that Thirumagal was once born as the daughter of Samudraraja, the ocean-king; having wed Thirumal she grew displeased with him and came from Vaikuntam to stand at this place, hence the name Thiruninravur, 'the town where she stood.' Samudraraja then entreated the angry Mahalakshmi, saying, 'I am not your father; you are the mother who bore me,' pleading with her to return to Vaikuntam, and from this the Goddess received her name. The processional couple here is exquisitely beautiful. All festivals dear to the Lord and his consort are observed grandly, and the Saturday worship, prayed to for the removal of obstacles to marriage, marital harmony and wellbeing, is especially auspicious.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்திருத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; "ஏற்றினை இமயத்து ளெம் ஈசனை இம்மையை மறுமைக்கு மருந்தனை ஆற்றனல அண்டத் தற்புறத்தூய்திடும்..., எனத்தொடரும் திருமங்கையாழ்வாரால் மங்களாசாசனம் செய்யப்பட்ட இந்த வைணவ திருத்தலத்தின் உத்பல விமானத்தின் கீழுள்ள கருவறையில், நம் வேங்கடவன் திருமகள், பூமகளுடன் கிழக்கு முகமாக நின்ற திருக்கோலத்தில், சற்றே பெரியவராக அருட்காட்சியளிக்கிறார். தனி சன்னதியில் நம் நாச்சியார், 'என்னை பெற்ற தாயார் ' எனும் வித்தியாசமான திருநாமத்துடன் அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். (ஒரு புராண வரலாற்று நிகழ்விபடி: நம் திருமகள், ஒருமுறை கடலரசனான சமுத்திரராஜனின் மகளாக பிறந்து வளர்ந்து, திருமாலை மணம்புரிந்து பின் அவரிடம் கோபித்துக்கொண்டு வைகுண்டத்திலிருந்து பூலோகத்தில் இத்தலம் வந்து நின்றதால், திருநின்றவூர்' என்றானதாக கூறப்படுபடும் தலபுராணத்தில் மேலும், கோபித்துக்கொண்டு வந்து நின்ற மஹாலக்ஷ்மியிடம், சமுத்திர ராஜன் "நான் உனக்கு தந்தையல்ல, நீயே என்னை பெற்ற தாய்" என மீண்டும் வைகுண்டம் செல்ல மன்றாடினாராம். அதனாலேயே நம் திருமகளுக்கு இத்திருப்பெயர் என்று தலபுராணம் கூறுகிறது) மங்களாசாசனம் செய்யப்பட்ட 108-திவ்ய தேசங்களில், 59-வது தலமான இங்கு திருவருள்புரியும் உற்சவர் தம்பதியர் வெகு அழகு, பெருமாள் தம்பதியருக்கு உகந்த அனைத்து விழாக்களும் சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்படும் இத்திருத்தலத்தில், திருமணத்தடை அகலவும், தம்பதியர் கருத்தொற்றுமை கூடிடவும் மற்றும நலமும் வளமும் சிறக்கவும் நடைபெறும் சனிக்கிழமை வழிபாடு வெகு விசேஷமாம்). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻*பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
