Sthala Purāṇam
കേരളത്തിലെ പത്തനംതിട്ടയിലുള്ള തിരുവല്ലയിലെ ശ്രീവല്ലഭ ക്ഷേത്രം 108 ദിവ്യദേശങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്; ഇവിടെ വിഷ്ണു ശ്രീവല്ലഭനായി — കോലപിരാൻ എന്നും വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നവനായി — ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. മൂലവിഗ്രഹം ഏകദേശം ഏഴടി ഉയരമുള്ളതും, ദർശനാർത്ഥികൾ അതിനെ കാണാൻ കുനിയേണ്ടിവരുംവിധം ഉയരത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ടതുമാണ്; വലതുകൈകളിൽ താമരയും ചക്രവും, മേലെയുള്ള ഇടതുകൈയിൽ ശംഖും ധരിച്ച്, താഴത്തെ ഇടതുകൈ അരയിൽ വെച്ച്, ആദിയും അന്തവുമില്ലാത്ത വിരാട്പുരുഷനെ പ്രതീകവത്കരിച്ച് നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു. സ്ഥല പുരാണത്തിന്റെ കേന്ദ്രബിന്ദു ഈ ഗ്രാമത്തെ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന തോകലാസുരൻ എന്ന അസുരനാണ്. ഒരു യുവ ബ്രഹ്മചാരി ശങ്കരമംഗലത്ത് ഇല്ലത്തിലെ ഭക്തിമതിയായ വിധവ ശ്രീദേവി അന്തർജനത്തിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ട്, ഭക്ഷണം യാചിച്ച്, പിന്നീട് തന്റെ സ്വർണ്ണദണ്ഡം സുദർശന ചക്രമാക്കി മാറ്റി തോകലാസുരനെ വധിച്ച്, അനന്തരം തന്നെത്തന്നെ വിഷ്ണുവായി വെളിപ്പെടുത്തി അവൾക്ക് മോക്ഷം നൽകി. മറ്റ് ഐതിഹ്യങ്ങൾ മല്ലികാവനത്തിലെ ദുർവാസ മഹർഷിയുടെ തപസ്സും, ശിവഭക്തനായ ഖണ്ഡകർണൻ തന്റെ മണികൾ ജലവന്തി തീർത്ഥത്തിലേക്ക് എറിഞ്ഞതും, ഈ വിഗ്രഹം ദ്വാരകയിൽനിന്ന് സാത്യകി, ഗരുഡൻ എന്നിവരിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ച്, പിന്നീട് ചേരമാൻ പെരുമാൾ എന്ന രാജാവ് അത് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചതും വർണ്ണിക്കുന്നു. ഒരേ കൂരയ്ക്കു കീഴിൽ ശ്രീവല്ലഭൻ (കിഴക്ക് അഭിമുഖമായി) യും അഷ്ടഭുജ സുദർശന ചക്രം (പടിഞ്ഞാറ് അഭിമുഖമായി) യും രണ്ടും കുടികൊള്ളുന്നു എന്നതാണ് ഇതിന്റെ സവിശേഷത. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഗരുഡ, മത്സ്യ പുരാണങ്ങളിൽ പരാമർശിക്കപ്പെട്ട വല്ലഭ ക്ഷേത്രമായി തിരിച്ചറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. നമ്മാഴ്വാർ ഇതിനെ പാടി, പെരുമാളിനെ കോലപിരാൻ, തിരുവാഴ്മാർവൻ, സുന്ദരയൻ എന്ന് സ്തുതിച്ചു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഓരോ ദിവസവും നിത്യ സമർപ്പണമായി അവതരിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന കഥകളിക്ക് പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്; വില്വമംഗലം സ്വാമിയാർ പെരുമാൾ ഈ കല ആസ്വദിക്കുന്നതായി തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞശേഷമാണ് ഇത് ആരംഭിച്ചത്; ഇന്ത്യയിൽ മറ്റെവിടെയുമുള്ളതിനെക്കാൾ കൂടുതൽ ദിവസങ്ങൾ ഇവിടെ വർഷംതോറും കഥകളി അരങ്ങേറുന്നു. ഉയരമുള്ള ഏകശില ഗ്രാനൈറ്റ് ഗരുഡ ധ്വജസ്തംഭവും പാരമ്പര്യാധിഷ്ഠിത പാഞ്ചരാത്ര പൂജാവിധിയും ഇതിന്റെ വ്യതിരിക്ത സവിശേഷതകളാണ്.
Mangalāśāsanam — the Āḻvār pāsurams
The Lord Sreevallabhan (Kolapiran) with Selva Thirukkozhundu Nachiyar of Thiruvalvaazh is glorified in 10 pāsurams by:
തിരുവല്ലയിലെ (തിരുവല്ലവാഴ്) ശ്രീവല്ലഭ ക്ഷേത്രത്തെ (ദേവൻ ശ്രീവല്ലഭൻ / കോളപിരാൻ) രണ്ട് Āḻvārമാർ മംഗളാശാസനം ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. Nammāḻvār സഹസ്രനാമങ്ങളുള്ള ഭഗവാനോടുള്ള വിരഹവ്യാകുലതയുടെ ഭാവത്തിൽ പത്ത് pāsuramകൾ അടങ്ങിയ ഒരു പതികം (Thiruvaimozhi 5.9, Divya Prabandham ക്രമസംഖ്യ 3205-3215) പാടുന്നു; Thirumangai Āḻvār ഒരു Periya Thirumozhi പതികവും (1808-1817) Periya Thirumadal-ലെ ഒരു പരാമർശവും ചേർക്കുന്നു. ഈ സ്ഥലം Malai Nāḍu (കേരളം) Divya Desamകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്.
என்று கொல் தோழிமீர்காள் எம்மை நீர் நலிந்து என் செய்தீரோ? பொன் திகழ் புன்னை மகிழ் புது மாதவி மீது அணவி தென்றல் மணம் கமழும் திருவல்லவாழ் நகருள் நின்ற பிரான் அடி நீறு அடியோம் கொண்டு சூடுவதே?
eṉṟu kol tōḻimīrkāḷ emmai nīr nalintu eṉ ceytīrō? poṉ tikaḻ puṉṉai makiḻ putu mātavi mītu aṇavi teṉṟal maṇam kamaḻum tiruvallavāḻ nakaruḷ niṉṟa pirāṉ aṭi nīṟu aṭiyōm koṇṭu cūṭuvatē?
O dear friends, what do you gain by tormenting me? When will we, His servants, take upon our heads with reverence the dust of the divine feet of the Lord who stands in Thiruvallavāzh (Thiruvalvaazh) — the town where the southern breeze, embracing golden-blossomed punnai, magizham and fresh mādhavi flowers, carries their fragrance everywhere?
