Sthala Mahātmyam
Over 500 years old, this Vaishnava temple enshrines Thirumal in its sanctum under the name Thirumalairaya Perumal, reclining with his head to the south and facing east. That the Lord appeared here swayambhu (self-manifest) is the temple's chief distinction. His utsavar, with Sridevi and Bhudevi, graces a temple at the centre of the town. According to tradition, the Lord once revealed himself by causing a milkman to spill the milk he was carrying. The hill behind the temple is called Ramakkal Malai, where the Lord's divine play unfolded; seen from afar it resembles the calm face of a man. When the milkman struck it with an axe, blood is said to have flowed, and the blood-stained portion of the hill appears as though the name 'Rama' were inscribed upon it, a wonder to behold. Purattasi Saturday worship and the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival are among this temple's most special and sacred days.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; சுமார் 500-ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேல் பழமையான இந்த வைணவத் திருத்தலத்தின் கருவறையில் நம் திருமால், திருமலைராயப்பெருமாள் எனும் திருநாமத்துடன், தென்பகுதியில் தலையை வைத்து, கிழக்கு நோக்கியபடி சயனத்திருக்கோலத்தில் அருட்காட்சியளிக்கிறார் . (இத்தல இறைவன் சுயம்புவாக தோன்றி அருட்காட்சியளிப்பது தலச்சிறப்பாகும்) இவருக்கான (ஸ்ரீதேவி, பூதேவி சமேத)உற்சவர், ஊரின் மையத்திலுள்ள கோயிலில் அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். ஒரு வரலாற்று நிகழ்வின்படி; இத்தல இறைவன் முற்காலத்தில், ஒரு பால்காரர் கொணாடுவந்த பாலை கொட்டச்செய்து, தன்னை அடையாளம் காட்டிய பெருமாளாம். (கோயில் பின்புறம் இருக்கும் மலையின் பெயர் ராமக்கல் மலை. இறைவனின் திருவிளையாடல் நடந்த இம்மலை, தொலைவில் இருந்து பார்க்கும்போது அமைதியான மனிதனின் முகம் போல் காணப்படுகிறது., பால்காரர் கோடாரியால் வெட்டியபோது, வெளியேறிய ரத்தம் படிந்த பகுதியே இம்மலையில் ராமநாமம் இட்டதுபோல காணப்படுவது அதிசயம்) புரட்டாசி சனிக்கிழமை வழிபாடும், வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி விழாவும் இத்தலத்தின் சிறப்புமிகு திருநாட்களாகும்). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
