Sthala Mahātmyam
This ancient Vaishnava kshetram in Periya Kadai Veedhi, Kumbakonam, is said to be over 1,500 years old and crowned by a five-tier rajagopuram. In the sanctum, Lord Vishnu is seated bearing the conch and discus, flanked on both sides by His consorts, granting darshan as Sri Sara Narayana Perumal. The temple's great distinction is that behind the divine couple stand the vigrahas of the Dasavatara, the ten avatars, and so the Lord is also revered as Dasavatara Perumal. Each of these ten avatar forms serves as a parihara sthalam corresponding to the twelve zodiac signs (navagraha), making the shrine especially significant for those of the Kadaka (Cancer) rasi, who are advised to worship here. Little known to devotees beyond the locality, it is traditionally held that Nammalvar and Thirumangai Alvar offered mangalasasanam here together with the renowned Sri Sarangapani temple. A sannidhi for Srimad Vikhanasa Mahaguru, revered as the world's first guru who established Vaishnava temple worship methods and gotras, adds to its glory. Special worship is conducted every Friday for health and prosperity.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; சுமார் 1500-ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேல் பழமையான, ஐந்து நிலை ராஜகோபுரம் கொண்ட இந்த வைணவ திருத்தலத்தின் கருவறையில் தேவியர் இருபுறமும் உடனிருக்க, சங்கு சக்கரதாரியாய் அமர்ந்த நிலையில் நம் திருமால், ஸ்ரீ சர நாராயணப் பெருமாள் எனும் திருநாமத்துடன் அருட்காட்சியளித்திட, இறை தம்பதியரின் பின்புறம் தஸாவதார விக்ரகங்கள் காணப்படுவது தலச்சிறப்பாகும். (இதனாலேயே இறைவன், தசாவதாரப்பெருமாள் எனும் திருநாமத்திலும் அழைககப்படுகின்றார்) இத்திருத்தலத்தின் தசாவதாரங்கள், தனித்தனி ரூபத்துடன் 12 ராசிகளுக்கு உரிய (நவகிரக) பரிகார ஸ்தலமாக விளங்குவது தல விசேஷம். (குறிப்பாக; கடக ராசிக்காரர்கள் வழிபடவேண்டிய இத்திருக்கோயில், உள்ளூர் மக்களைத் தவிர வெளியூர் பக்தர்களால் அதிகம் அறியப்படாத மிகவும் பழமைவாய்ந்த வைணவத் திருத்தலங்களில் ஒன்று) இக்கோயிலுக்கு, நம்மாழ்வார் மற்றும் திருமங்கை ஆழ்வார் ஆகியோர் பிரசித்தி பெற்ற ஸ்ரீ சாரங்கபாணி ஆலயத்துடன் இணைத்து மங்களாசாசனம் செய்ததாக ஐதீகம். (இவ்வுலகில் வைணவ ஆலய பூஜை முறைகளையும், குலம் கோத்திரங்களையும் உருவாக காரணமான உலகின் முதல் குரு) ஸ்ரீமத் விகனஸ மஹாகுருவின் சன்னதி இத்திருத்தலத்தில் உள்ளது தலச்சிறப்புக்களில் ஒன்றாகும். பெருமாள் தம்பதியருக்கு உகந்த அத்தனை விழாக்களும் சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்படும் இத்தலத்தில், நலமும், வளமும் சிறக்க நடைபெறும் பிரதி வெள்ளிக்கிழமை நாட்களில் நடைபெறும் சிறப்பு வழிபாடு மற்றுமொரு தலவிசேஷம்). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
