Set atop the roughly 1000-foot Mangaimalai hill near Sankagiri, amid the green Suryamalai forest ringed by hills, this small, ancient temple enshrines the Lord in standing posture with his Devis on either side, an image said to be many centuries old. Little known beyond local devotees, the peaceful hill shrine is reachable by a mountain path along which small four-wheeled vehicles like cars can travel. Abhishekam for the Lord is performed using water from a small, never-drying spring-pond on the hill. The hill was formerly called 'Mangaimalai' after Panchali (Draupadi), the celestial maiden and consort of the Pandavas, and over time the name became 'Mangamalai'. The Lord here is revered as the family deity (kuladeivam) of more than 300 families living in Sankagiri, Konganapuram, Mecheri, Vedasandur, Muthur and other towns. The temple is open until evening on Saturdays, Sundays and important days such as Pournami and Amavasya. During its great festival on the four Purattasi Saturdays, it remains open from early morning until night.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; சங்ககிரி அருகே உள்ள சூரியமலை வனப்பகுதியில், சுற்றிலும் பசுமையான சிறிய, பெரிய மலைகள் சூழ்ந்திட அமையப் பெற்றிருக்கும், (சுமார் 1000-அடி உயரம் கொண்ட) அமைதியும், பசுமைமிகு அழகும் ஒருங்கிணைந்திருக்கும் மங்கைமலைக்குன்றின் உச்சியில், அமைந்துள்ள சிறு ஆலயத்தின் கருவறையில் நம் பெருமாள், தேவியர் இருபுறமும் உடனிருக்க, (நூற்றாண்டுகள் பல கடந்தவராக) நின்ற திருக்கோலத்தில் அருட்காட்சியளிக்கிறார். உள்ளூர் மக்களைத் தவிர, வெளியூர் பக்தர்களால் அதிகம் அறியப்படாத பழமையான இம்மலைக்குன்று ஆலயத்தின் இறைவனை தரிசனம் காண, கார் போன்ற சிறு நான்கு வாகனங்கள் செல்ல மலைப்பாதை வசதியும் உள்ளது. (மலைமேல் உள்ள என்றும் வற்றாத சிறு சுனை போன்ற தீர்த்தகுளத்தில் இருந்துதான் சுவாமிக்கு அபிஷேகம் நடைபெறுகிறது) விண்ணகர் மங்கையும், பாண்டவர் பத்தினியுமான பாஞ்சாலியின் பெயரால், முற்காலத்தில் 'மங்கைமலை' என்றழைக்கப்பட்ட இம்மலைக்குன்று, பெயர் மருவி, தற்காலத்தில் 'மங்கமலை' என்றழைக்கப்படுகின்றதாம். சங்ககிரி, கொங்கணாபுரம், மேச்சேரி, வேடச்சந்தூர், முத்தூர் உட்பட பல ஊர்களில் வாழ்ந்திடும் 300-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட குடும்பங்களின் குலதெய்வமாக போற்றி வணங்கப்படும் இத்தல இறைவனின் திருக்கோயில், பிரதி சனி, ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை மற்றும் பவுர்ணமி, அமாவாசை போன்ற முக்கிய விசேஷ நாட்களில் மாலைவரை திறக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. பெரும் திருவிழாக்கோலம் காணும் புரட்டாசி நான்கு சனிக்கிழமை நாட்களில் அதிகாலை முதல் இரவு வரை திறக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது) 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
