Sthala Mahātmyam
Situated on the banks of the Vasishta river near Vazhapadi, this is one of the celebrated old shrines of Salem district. While Perumal is usually seen with four arms, here the Lord grants darshan in a rare and precious form as Sri Ashtabhuja Bala Madana Venugopala, an eight-armed Krishna playing the flute, with His consorts on either side. Of the eight arms, the upper two are said to belong to Mahavishnu, the lower two to the Krishna avatar, and the remaining four to Balarama. Marakathavalli Thayar graces a separate sannidhi in a beautiful seated posture. Over 1,000 years old and recently renovated, this Vaishnava temple remains little known to devotees outside the locality. It is believed that those facing family divisions or obstacles to marriage benefit by devoutly worshipping the Lord here on the Magam, Visakam, Sadhayam, Thiruvonam and Rohini nakshatra days, when heartfelt prayers are said to bring blessings.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; சேலம் மாவட்டத்தில் பிரசித்தி பெற்ற பழமைமிகு ஆலயங்களில், வாழப்பாடி அருகேயுள்ள பேளூரின் வசிஷ்ட நதிக்கரையில் அமைந்துள்ள ஸ்ரீ அஷ்டபுஜ பால மதன வேணுகோபால சுவாமியின் திருக்கோவிலும் ஒன்று. பொதுவாக, நம் பெருமாள் நான்கு திருக்கரங்களுடன் அருள்பாலிப்பார். ஆனால், இத்தலத்தில் தேவியர் இருபுறமும் உடனிருக்க அருட்காட்சியளிக்கும் இறைவனோ, ஸ்ரீ அஷ்டபுஜ பால மதன வேணுகோபாலர் எனும் திருநாமம்கொண்டு, *எட்டு (அஷ்டபுஜ) திருக்கரங்களுடன் குழலூதும் கண்ணனாக* காண்பதற்கு அரிய திருக்கோலத்துடன் திருவருள்புரிவது தலச்சிறப்பாகும். (இத்தல இறைவனின் எட்டு கரங்களில், மேல் உள்ள இரண்டு கரங்கள் மஹாவிஷ்ணுவுக்கு உரியவை. கீழேயுள்ள இரண்டு கரங்கள் கிருஷ்ணாவதார கரங்களாம். மீதமுள்ள நான்கு கரங்கள் பலராமனுக்கு உரியவையாகும்) தனி சன்னதியில், தாயார் அமர்ந்த நிலையில் அழகுத்திருக்காட்சியளிக்கிறாள். உள்ளூர் மக்களைத் தவிர, வெளியூர் பக்தர்களால் அதிகம் அறியப்படாத, நமது தமிழகத்தின் பழமையான திருத்தலங்களில், இந்த வைணவ ஆலயமும் ஒன்று. சமீப காலத்தில் சிறப்பாக திருப்பணிகள் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ள இந்த வைணவ திருத்தலத்தலம், சுமார் 1000-ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேல் பழமையானதாகும். குடும்ப பிரிவுகள் மற்றும் திருமணத்தடை உள்ளவர்கள் இத்திருத்தலத்தின் இறைவனை மகம், விசாகம், சதயம், திருவோணம், ரோகிணி நட்சத்திர நாட்களில் உளமார வழிபடுதல் நன்மை பயக்கும் என்பது நம்பிக்கை). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
