Sri Jaganatha Perumal Temple, Senbagaramanallur

Sthala Mahātmyam
Believed to be more than a thousand years old, this fairly large and ancient Vaishnava temple is distinctive for having no towering rajagopuram, presenting instead a broad, flat 'mottai' gopuram. In the sanctum the Lord gives darshan standing, with his consorts on either side, while in a separate shrine the Thayar, Senbagavalli, appears seated in beautiful form. It is regarded as a temple for those born under the Thiruvonam (Shravana) star. According to the sthala history, Senbagarama Varman, a king who ruled Kerala, halted here at a place then called 'Nallur' while returning from the Puri Jagannath temple. The Lord appeared in his dream and commanded him to build a temple, so in memory of Puri Jagannath he stayed a while, raised this shrine, and consecrated the Lord as Sri Jaganatha Perumal on a Thiruvonam day. The village later took his name as Senbagarama Varma Nallur, which softened to Senbagaramanallur. Inscriptions from the 14th century survive, its pillar sculptures are admired, many Kerala devotees visit, and Vaikunta Ekadasi is celebrated grandly.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; சுமார் 1000-ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேல் முற்பட்டதாக கருதப்படும் (ராஜகோபுரம் இல்லாது, அகன்ற மொட்டை கோபுரமாய் காட்சியளிக்கும்) சற்றே பெரிய இந்த பழமைமிகு வைணவ திருத்தலத்தின் கருவறையில் நம் பெருமாள், தேவியர் இருபுறமும் உடனிருக்க நின்ற திருக்கோலத்தில் அருட்காட்சியளிக்கிறார். தனி சன்னதியில், நம் தாயார் அமர்ந்த நிலையில் அழகுத் திருக்காட்சியளிக்கிறாள். 'திருவோண' நட்சத்திரக்காரர்கள் வழிபட வேண்டிய பெருமாள் தலம். ஒரு வரலாற்று நிகழ்வின்படி; முற்காலத்தில், கேரளாவை ஆட்சி செய்த செண்பகராம வர்மன், ஒரு சமயம் பூரி ஜெகநாத பெருமாள் ஆலயம் சென்று திரும்பும் வழியில், 'நல்லூர்' என்றழைக்கப்பட்ட இப்பகுதியில் தங்கியிருந்தபோது அவரது கனவில் தோன்றிய இறைவன், ஆலயம் கட்ட பணித்ததால், பூரி ஜெகநாதரின் நினைவாலே (பெருமாள் கனவில் தோன்றிய இத்தலத்திலேயே, சில காலம் தங்கியிருந்து) இக்கோவில் கட்டி இறைவனுக்கு ஸ்ரீ ஜெகநாத பெருமாள் எனும் திருப்பெயரில், திருவோண நட்சத்திர நாளில் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்து வழிபட்டுச் சென்றதாகவும், பிற்காலத்தில் ஆலயம் அமைந்துள்ள இவ்வூர், அம்மன்னரின் பெயரால் 'செண்பகராம வர்ம நல்லூர்' என அழைக்கப்பட்டு, பின் அப்பெயர் மருவி தற்போதைய 'செண்பகராம நல்லூர்' என்றானதாகவும் தல வரலாறு கூறுகிறது. 14-ஆம் நூற்றாணடின் கல்வெட்டுகள் காணப்படும் இத்திருத்தலத்தின் தூண்களில் வடிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் சிற்பங்கள் அத்தனையும் அற்புதம். (கேரள மன்னர் கட்டிய இத்திருத்தலத்தின் சிறப்பினை கேள்வியுற்று, தற்போது ஏராளமான கேரள பக்தர்கள் வருகைதருகின்றனராம்) பெருமாள் தம்பதியருக்கு உகந்த அத்தனை விழாக்களும் சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்படும் இத்தலத்தில் நடைபெறும் வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி விழா ஏராளமான பக்தர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டாடிடும் பிரசித்தி பெற்ற பெரும் விழாக்காலமாகும்). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
