Sthala Mahātmyam
Built by the early Cholas and later damaged during Malik Kafur's fourteenth-century invasion, this temple, over 1,300 years old, has since been beautifully renovated. In the sanctum, Lord Vishnu grants darshan as Sri Vaikunta Perumal, seated in a four-armed form with a smiling countenance and flanked by His consorts. His upper hands bear the conch and discus while the lower hands show the varada and abhaya mudras, exactly as He appears in Vaikuntha, and so this kshetram is extolled as Bhuloka Vaikuntam, Vaikuntha upon earth. It is also revered as a Kubera sthalam. According to a puranic tradition, the Lord of the Seven Hills at Tirupati came here in human form and worshipped the Lakshmi Kubera enshrined here, taking a loan to wed Alarmel Mangai Thayar; having married her, he regained his lost wealth, a story central to this temple's glory. The Deepavali homam offered to Sri Lakshmi Kubera in the month of Aippasi is famed. Praised as a place for relief from Sukra dosha, worship on Fridays during the Sukra hora is held most beneficial.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; முற்காலச் சோழர்களால் கட்டப்பட்டு, 14-ஆம் நூற்றாணடில் மாலிக்காபூர் படையெடுப்பில் சிதிலமாக்கப்பட்டு பின், சமீப காலத்தில் மிகச்சிறப்பாக திருப்பணிகள் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ள, சுமார் 1,300-ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேல் பழமையான இந்த வைணவ திருத்தலத்தின் கருவறையில் நம் திருமால், ஸ்ரீ வைகுண்ட பெருமாள் எனும் திருநாமத்துடன் தேவியர் இருபுறமும் உடனிருக்க, நான்கு திருக்கரங்களுடன் அமர்ந்த திருக்கோலத்தில் புன்னகைக்கும் அழகுத்திருமுகமாக அருட்காட்சியளிக்கிறார். மேலிரு திருக்கரங்களில் சங்கு, சக்கரமும், கீழிரு திருக்கரங்களில் வரத, அபய முத்திரையோடு பெருமாள் வைகுண்ட லோகத்தில் எந்த தோற்றத்தில் காட்சியளித்தாரோ, அதே நிலையில் இங்கு எழுந்தருளியிருப்பதால் இத்தலம் பூலோக வைகுண்டம் எனப்போற்றப்படுகின்றது. குபேர ஸ்தலம். (ஒரு புராண வரலாற்று நிகழ்வின்படி; திருப்பதி ஏழுமலையான், மானுட வடிவில் இத்தலம் வந்து, இங்கு அருள்பாலிக்கும் லட்சுமி குபேரனை வழிபட்டு, அலர்மேல் மங்கை தாயாரை மணம் புரிய கடன் பெற்றுச்சென்று, தாயாரை திருமணம் செய்து இழந்த செல்வத்தை பெருமாள் மீண்டும் பெற காரணமாக அமைந்த கோயில் என்பது இத்தலச்சிறப்பாகும்) ஐப்பசி மாதம் தீபாவளி அன்று, இத்திருத்தலத்தில் அருள்புரியும் ஸ்ரீ லக்ஷ்மி குபேரருக்கு நடைபெறும் ஹோம வழிபாடு பிரசித்தி பெற்ற தலவிசேஷமாகும். சுக்கிர தோஷ நிவர்த்தி ஸ்தலமாக போற்றப்படும் இத்திருத்தலத்தில், வெள்ளிக்கிழமை சுக்கிர ஓரையில் வழிபடுதல் மிகவும் நன்மை பயக்கும் என்பது நம்பிக்கை). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
