Sri Lakshmi Narayanar (Sri Venkatesa Perumal) Temple, Varagur

This roughly thousand-year-old Vaishnava temple, recently renovated, enshrines the Lord beneath the Padma Vimana. In the sanctum Thirumal is seated with Sri Mahalakshmi upon his left lap, granting darshan in this posture under the name Sri Lakshmi Narayanar. By a historical tradition, the Lord once revealed himself as Sri Krishna to the sage Narayana Theerthar, and so Krishna Jayanthi is celebrated with great grandeur. Notably there is no separate idol of Krishna here; Lakshmi Narayanar himself is worshipped as Krishna. On Gokulashtami an infant Krishna is placed upon the Lord's lap while the Perumal is adorned as Yashoda, followed by a discourse on Krishna, a unique thala visesham. As the Lord alone is supreme here, there are no parivara (attendant) deities. Once known as 'Bhupathirajapuram', the place came to be called Varagur because Thirumal appeared as a white boar (Varaha) to guide the lost Narayana Theerthar. Since Sri Venkatesa Perumal with Sridevi and Bhudevi is renowned, it is also called Venkatesa Perumal Koyil. Childless couples offer a silver kaappu at his feet and, once blessed with a child, return it as an offering.

(🙏🏻 சிறப்புக்கள் பல பெற்ற இத்தலத்தின் பதிவுகள் சில மட்டும்; சுமார் 1000-ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான, சமீப காலத்தில் சிறப்பாக திருப்பணிகள் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ள இந்த வைணவ திருத்தலத்தின் பத்ம விமானத்தின் கீழுள்ள கருவறையில் நம் திருமால், தனது இடது மடியில் ஸ்ரீ மஹாலக்ஷ்மியை அமர்த்தி, அமர்ந்த திருக்கோலத்தில் ஸ்ரீ லக்ஷ்மி நாராயணர் எனும் திருநாமத்துடன் அருட்காட்சியளிக்கிறார். ஒரு வரலாற்று நிகழ்வின்படி, நாராயண தீர்த்தருக்கு, இத்தல இறைவன் ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ணராக அருட்காட்சியளித்ததால், கிருஷ்ண ஜெயந்தி விழா மிக விசேஷமாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. (🤔ஆனால், இங்கு கிருஷ்ணருக்கென சிலை வடிவம் எதுவும் கிடையாது. லக்ஷ்மி நாராயணரையே கிருஷ்ணராக பாவித்து வழிபடுவதும்,. கோகுலாஷ்டமியன்று சுவாமி மடியில் குழந்தை கிருஷ்ணரை வைத்து, பெருமாளையே யசோதையாக அலங்கரிப்பதும், பின் கிருஷ்ணரைப்பற்றி சொற்பொழிவு நடப்பதும் தலவிசேஷம்) சுவாமியே இங்கு பிரதானம் என்பதால், பரிவார மூர்த்திகள் கிடையாது. 'பூபதிராஜபுரம்' என, முற்காலத்தில் அழைக்கப்பட்ட இத்தலம், (இக்கோயில் வந்துசேர வழி தெரியாமல் தவித்த) நாராயண தீர்த்தருக்கு, திருமால் வெண்பன்றியாக (வராகராக) காட்சி தந்து வழிகாட்டியதால் வரகூர் எனப்பெயர் பெற்றதாம். இத்திருத்தலத்தில் ஸ்ரீதேவி, பூதேவியுடன் அருள்புரியும் ஸ்ரீ வெங்கடேச பெருமாளே பிரசித்தி பெற்றவராதலால், இவரது பெயரில் "வெங்கடேச பெருமாள் கோயில்" என, இத்தலம் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. நல்மகப்பேறு அருளிடும் பெருமாள். குழந்தை பாக்கியம் இல்லாதோர், சுவாமி பாதத்தில் வெள்ளிக்காப்பு வைத்து வேண்டி, அதை அணிந்துகொள்வதும். குழந்தை பிறந்ததும் அதை காணிக்கையாக செலுத்துவதும் மற்றுமொரு தலவிசேஷம்). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
