Sthala Mahātmyam
One of the renowned Vaishnava shrines of Kanchipuram district, this temple enshrines the divine couple Sri Adimoola Narayana, who, it is said, lay long buried within the earth and were recovered in recent times through the efforts of Ayyappa devotees. In ancient days the sage Bhukarba Maharishi is believed to have fashioned and worshipped the Lord's image here. This is revered as the Subhithyaranya Kshetram, where the Lord granted moksha to Gajendra the elephant. According to the sthala purana, it was here that the Lord expounded to the sages Narada and Bhrigu the transit of the planets, their benefic and malefic influences, and how the nine grahas bear upon human life. For this reason the temple is esteemed as a graha dosha nivarthi sthalam, a place that remedies planetary afflictions, and the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival celebrated here is held to be especially auspicious and grand.

(ஆதிகாலத்தில், பூகர்ப மகரிஷி இத்தல இறைவனின் விக்ரகத்தை வடித்து வழிபட்டதாக கூறப்படுகிறது) கஜேந்திரனுக்கு, நம் பெருமாள் மோட்ஷம் அளித்த சுபித்யாரண்ய ஷேத்திரம் என்பது தலச்சிறப்பாகும் . இங்குதான் நாரதர் மற்றும் பிருகு முனிவருக்கு கோள்களின் கோச்சாரம் அவற்றின் சாதக பாதகங்கள் (மனித வாழ்வில் நவகிரகங்கள் எப்படி சம்பந்தப்பட்டு உள்ளன) என்பது பற்றி நம் இறைவன் போதித்ததாக தலபுராணம் கூறுகிறது. கிரஹ தோஷ நிவர்த்தி ஸ்தலமாக போற்றப்படும் இத்திருத்தலத்தில் நடைபெறும் வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி விழா வெகு விசேஷமாம்). 🙏🏻ஓம் நமோ நாராயணாய நமக: 🇮🇳👍🏻 *பாரத நாடு* *பழம்பெரும் நாடு!* *நீரதன் புதல்வர்!* *இந்நினைவகற்றாதீர்!*
